Not helping your cause on my skepticism there, pal.
[ Either way, though - it's not like she has any other leads on how to deal with this. Or even had any idea that there was still something to deal with after that whole fiasco in the first place. ]
[ Because of course he does. It was easy for people to look at him and think he was a fool with a light ability for healing. No one actually thought it was a smoke screen to hide what he actually was, even if the clues were all there. ]
We go to a spot in the woods that I know, out in the full sunlight and then I work my magic.
[ He still seems way too cheerful for all this, morning person aside. Madsen gives herself a few moments to think again by way of taking a sip of her coffee, and frowns a little as she looks down at it. ]
If I didn't know any better, that would just sound like an open invitation to some weird serial killer bullshit. But I'm sure since you already know I've been dealing with fighting most of my life that something like that wouldn't be a good idea.
[ He theatrically puts his hands to his chest and gasps at her comment, eyes and mouth wide in shock. It's a pose he holds for a moment before breaking into giggles and finishing his drink. ]
Sorry, sorry! But no, it's nothing like that. Sunlight is just good for the lingering traces of corruption even without a Healer around. So anyways, are you ready to go?
[ Aa-ha! Some success at last! Sandy smiled at her and waited, humming bits of song and looking at the others around them. When she was finished, he stood up and nodded to the door. ]
You know, I never figured Dusty to ask for my expertise help with anyone's problems. He usually tries to resolve it himself.
Can't say for myself. Most of what we deal with isn't ... to this extent, as far as I know.
[ Madsen shrugs before heading out with him. Honestly she gets it. This is ... definitely out of her league. And she probably will have to deal with more like it if she's going to continue dating Taeseok. ]
Most people don't! Demons don't actually go after powered people because of some of the risks involved.
[ He seems pretty happy about that too, slipping his hands into his pockets as they walked. Sandy led the way down the street, stopping once and a while to let other people that were in more of a hurry past them by. While he wasn't walking slow or anything, he didn't seem to be overly concerned as well. ]
Do you have some contact with other demonic types besides the one trying to force you to Fall?
Apparently I'm an exception, though apparently trying to make me Fall was just a bonus.
[ And back to that scowl. ]
... there's one asshole who likes to interrupt my missions and seems to get off on me threatening him, yeah. [ Right. She nearly forgot about Levi. even if he would be offended at her forgetting him. Which probably was a good thing, really. ]
[ And there was that cutesy tone that his texts had, boosted by an extra big wink before he reached the park and moves under the trees. ]
Demons have weird sense of humor, though that almost sounds like someone who thinks you are interesting enough to bother. Maybe he's bored and you're fun to poke at.
[ Madsen rolls her eyes, giving Sandy a bit of a look before they continue along. ]
Wouldn't be the first time that's happened, but it gets really fucking irritating when I have to re-track a target or have to start all over because he thinks it's hilarious to try and fluster me or get me wound up enough to want to try and stab him.
[ Well, he sometimes (read always) has a different kind of humor than most people. He thought it funny, but he thought a lot of things were funny, even if it was actually deadly serious to other people. ]
Mysterious are the humors of angels and demons.
[ Sandy nodded like it was the answer to everything and then stepped out into a clearing. It must have been a hidden gem in this place for no one else was there, just the ankle high grass sprinkled with flowers, the content hum of bees moving from flower to flower, the soft call of birds. The trees around the clearing looked sturdy and healthy, a couple squirrels peeking out on the branches before ducking out of sight. A light wind picked up, bending the flowers and sending their sweet scent around them mixing with the hint of clover and sun-touch grass. ]
[ She says it in the flattest tone she can muster at the moment before they end up in the clearing.
But she can admit when the scenery is beautiful, eyes widening slightly, breath caught in her lungs as she takes it in. It's been a very long time since she's seen anything like this. Too long, really. ]
[ Madsen finally lets out an exhale, snapping herself out of her stupor long enough to nod and step forward - though once she's in direct sunlight, she looks back with a cocked eyebrow. ]
[ In response, he waggled his hands at her, still holding them out. Yes, he wasn't actually saying that she needed to take his hands out loud but he was a little bit of a joker. He figured that she could figure it out eventually. ]
[ ... She shuts her eyes with a sigh and then places her hands in his. Look, she's not a very tactile person by nature, this isn't the first instinct she has when it comes to this sort of thing. ]
[ A soft chuckle at the way she just closed her eyes and sighed like that but he doesn't mock her or anything. It was cute, in a tsundere way, and Sandy felt that it might be part of the reason why Dusty decided to add her to his list of friends that he treated more like family. Figures the necromancer would find her stubbornness cute.
But he doesn't press or make any more comments, just gently closed his hands on hers, feeling the scars and wear from a lifetime of fighting. Under that was the beat of her fire, the flickering and shifting warmth of a power that had been torn and mended so many times. And under, the core of herself, the spark that drove it all to burn so bright. ]
Oh, child. The years haven't been so kind to you. Shall we mend some of the tears?
[ He doesn't wait for a response, instead takes a deep breath then releases one pure note, high and sweet and heard more with one's bones than with one's ears. The light grew and his wings stretched open as did two burning wheels that interwove with them. ]
[ Her eyes slowly crack open after a few moments and she feels light and music in her bones, only to have to screw her eyes shut again when the light gets too intense for her. She doesn't even notice that as a result of it, her own fire wings have extended as well. Right now she was more focusing on the light and how it felt against her skin and seeping into her very being. ]
[ A few more notes followed the first, his voice reaching high before dropping deep. High to clean and low to purge, his voice went from one to the next with little stopping. He was going to heal but not erase the years, sooth but not destroy what has been done. Scar tissue was there for a reason, but it should not block the flow of life around it. And once he was done, he folded his wings back and hummed one last note as the light became normal again. ]
[ There's a shiver that runs down Madsen's spine as the song continues, the flames dancing behind her back and flickering almost in accordance to the song. The resonation continues to hum in her bones and is warm, but comforting. She almost hums herself at the end of it before she opens her eyes, the light dimming enough and both sets of their wings retracting. ]
I ... feel better? Not terribly different, but. Definitely better.
[ It would probably be of no surprise to some that the meadow they were standing in had gotten even warmer feeling as the life there and surrounding it also felt the effects of his healing song. It might be why it was still untouched looking, the fact that he sometimes came there to just commune with the heart of life and song, a hidden treasure in the heart of the modern world. Sandy gave her hands a gentle squeeze and then let go stepping back so she can assess her self. ]
I only healed, I didn't touch who you are. That would be a terrible waste.
[ There's a brief pause where she stops to reassess and work on figuring out her energy, closing her eyes and sifting through - there's no weird traces, even though she can still recall the memories that bled over when Nithal was fully merged with her - and she doesn't feel sick to her stomach when she recounts the incident with Amon. In fact, at worst, she knows that if the demon tries again, she won't be alone in fighting back. Tae had made that very apparent after everything.
Though Sandy mentioning not touching who she was has the warmth in her veins turning ice-cold, swallowing as she opens her eyes to tense up again. Probably a poor choice of statement to mention around her, angel-boy. ]
[ It was a poor choice of words, but if anything, he knew that pretending to be just another human was not going to fly, especially if she was seeing a demon as a confident. He may disapprove of that, but he knew that in all things, humans were allowed to chose as they will. It was their gift and curse in their lives to reach the Heavens in one act and to plunge to the Hells in the next.
Sandy does not reveal his full angelic form; it was a maddening shape that can drive people insane just as such the full demonic shapes could. But he could let his wings open - first the main pair, then the four others, each tip alight by wheels spinning inside and out of each other in complex möbius shapes. ]
Do you not wonder with the appearance of my dark siblings if there were angels as well on this mortal plane?
[ To be fair, Levi was less like a confidant and more like an annoyance. Though it wouldn't be far off to say that she works alongside and is friends with people that would be considered total opposites to what she is and does.
Madsen's eyes widen slightly at the display, but she stands her ground, only to laugh, a hand at her face. ]
Wow. Sure, I guess. I mean I know demons, why the fuck wouldn't we have angels to deal with as well.
